who am I ?

My name is Michaela da Cruz Griffin and I grew up in Switzerland, California, and Canada, and now live in Texas but study in Bath. I am currently pursuing a degree in Fashion Marketing and Management at Bath Spa University. I chose to pursue a fashion course as it has always been something that has inspired me.

I am very much a young woman who is confident in herself and understands the current world with all its intricate nuances, having lived amongst different cultures which most definitely brought out the best in me. It is perhaps this that has also increased my appreciation of the fashion industry, as fashion translates culture and lifestyles so accurately. Whilst I have immersed myself in this exciting and fast-paced industry through, magazines, websites, and other forums, I am always thirsting for more which has cemented my intent on making this a life choice.

As I have matured, I have just skimmed the understanding of how the business can translate fashion into a viable, responsible, and equitable undertaking of cultural and social differences by making it more accessible and representative of who we are. This is a huge motivation to want to be part of the movement to build a more sustainable fashion business industry like Stella McCartney, Lemon Drop, and reformation, who have built their businesses successfully whilst remaining environmentally conscious. It is really exciting that this industry is continually evolving to promote individual expression but also unite to fight worthy causes through garments.
